Letter from President
Booster Club President: Lisa Corder e-mail:lmcorder@comcast.net
Jodie has requested that all of the girls order a recital T- shirt so they will have them as part of the "uniforms" for the Las Vegas trip. If you did not order your daughter one (on the form you should have turned in already), we will order one for you. If you know for sure you did not order one, but want to make sure the "right size" gets ordered, please let me know ASAP. Otherwise, I will just use my best judgement on size. I will be turning the order in this weekend. Thanks

Several of you have sent emails asking about the LV schedule. So as a follow-up to Jodie's email earlier today, there is a tentative schedule posted by USAG. The details can be found at the following link Team Gymnastic National in LV As Jodie stated in her email, the girls will be busy with Showteam obligations all day (and evening) on Friday and Saturday. They will have a practice at the venue Friday morning around 10:30 a.m. The Opening Ceremonies/Gymfest/Party are Friday night starting around 5:00 p.m. Saturday morning, the B team competes first mid-day, with the C and D teams competing in the early evening. (At this point in time, nothing is scheduled for Sunday.) All girls are dedicated to team activities all day long, so please do not plan any extracurricular activies for them at all on either of these two days. Jodie et al will be working the detailed schedule over the next week or so, along with the travel logistics for the girls to and from the venue. As soon as we have more definite details, we will be sure to pass them on.

Letter from Booster Club Parents
With that being said, while I was driving all over Houston last Friday for Show Team stuff it dawned on me how lucky my daughter really was.
With the sport she has chosen and we live in Houston, she has the opportunity to be on a team that very possibly could be the best in the Nation. That really is HUGE. I think about my boys and all the sports they have played and they have had some neat opportunties, making it to the state playoffs, but never have they had the chance to be on one of the top teams in the Nation.
Gymnastics doesn't get the recognition football does, especially in Texas, but WOW. And because we are one of the top teams in the Nation, we have been opportunities that our counter part. We are being asked to perform in venues that not everyone gets a chance to do because of our reputation. And that reputation comes with costs, hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. If we lived almost anywhere else in the United States, and our daughters chose gymnastics, she would not be given these opportunities, not only a chance to win a national title, but to perform at certain venues.
We are not only Team Gymn team but we are a performance team and recognized not only in the United States, but worldwide also. That sounds so corny, but after having the opportuntiy to go to the World Gymnestrada, there are other teams, other countries that remember Biron's, the team from Texas. And that really is cool.
Our daughters don't really understand it because they don't know any different.
The Show Team is more than just "the next level". SO, sit back, take a DEEP breath, this month will pass and probably we will live through it, and really enjoy the opportunty your daughter has been given and be proud of her team and what it really means.

Dear Showteam Parents and Athletes,
What a performance... By all. Another teamwork effort that benefits everybody, especially our girls.
Just to fill you in on the implications of last night’s show. Several months ago five owners (including yours truly) of major gymnastics facilities in the US were invited to work directly with the president of USA Gymnastics, Steve Penny (father of triplet girls, by the way) in an ongoing task force to make the national office more responsive to the needs of the grassroots level local gyms. After a two day intensive session at the national office in Philadelphia in March (in which I spent a good deal of time being vocal...no surprise), USAG is now working toward having a ‘program’ level committee for gymnastics facilities at the grass roots level, with the same validity as the men’s, Women’s Rhythmic, Collegiate programs., etc. It is my intention to make group gymnastics a part of this effort, not only because it is so good for the average class gymnast, but that when done well it can be every bit as awesome and electrifying as national level artistic competition.
It was at this meeting that I first broached the subject of a performance at the Visa Championships to Steve Penny. His response was that it might be possible, and to ask for a video. Thanks to Joe, Abby and all who worked on the video project that we sent to the national office we were eventually invited to perform at the beginning of the show. Subsequently, the schedule was changed to perform just before the awards ceremony.
It is amazing that, to the best of my knowledge, just about all of the top directors, program committee chairs, vice presidents, and Steve himself had not seen a high quality group gymnastics performance in person. I am not critical of them for this - they are very busy and doing a herculean job preparing for the US effort at Beijing. But...I am delighted that those top execs who were there last night now have seen the potential of the group program. Just before we went on the floor Steve visited with me, and mentioned that he was looking forward to our performance. Several program directors and one vice president sought me out after the routine and were most congratulatory on our performance.
What our girls have done for all the recreational and group gymnasts, now and in the future, is laudatory. They have given a professional face to the Group program,...and, in front of a number of the national staff, put on an outstanding show. They have established Group as a professional component of the sport, worthy of inclusion in the highest level of national events and celebrations. Jodie’s girls kicked in the door (at least part way!)
We are having another task force meeting at the national convention in Philadelphia the week after Las Vegas. Thanks to your daughters, you and the Showteam staff, I’ll have more leverage and increased opportunity to ‘get some respect’ for Group Gymnastics and its value to all levels of students. I am delighted that our team has served as an ambassador for the group program to our national office, and has shown that Group Gymnastics has the potential to be an ambassador to audiences everywhere for our great sport of gymnastics.
Thank you all.
Beau
