General Gymnastics
General Gymnastics is a new form of gymnastics that encourages creative expression of movement and unity to produce a spectacular visual display. Groups can be comprised of all age levels and various levels of gymnastics abilities. Learn more...
Team Gym
The primary difference between Team Gymn and artistic gymnastics competitions is that the gymnasts compete together as a squad. These squads may consist of all girls, all boys or a mixed squad of girls and boys together. In addition, the competition moves quickly from one event to another - six teams can complete their events in less than one hour!
In a Team Gymn competition, each squad competes in two events - Group Jump and Group Floor Exercise.
During Group Jump, each squad does two tumbling passes, two vaults, and two mini-tramp or board jumps. During Group Floor Exercise, ALL the gymnasts in the squad perform a group floor routine to music. Learn more..

USA Gymnastics TeamGym program for the 2008-2009 season
We realize that many of you are in the midst of getting ready for preparing for the 2008-2009 TeamGym season and desperately need information about the direction that the Rules Committee is taking for the new season.
All of the USA Gymnastics/GG Committee members have given their initial approval of the competitive Levels and basic skills therein. Therefore, we are releasing the basic skills for the Jump event. This should give all of you a very good idea of the level of difficulty required and point you in the right direction for starting training your squads.
As for the Group Floor, we expect that the general requirements will be VERY SIMILAR to the current rules. Of course there will be some differences:
The tumbling shown will again be “commensurate” to that which is expected in the Group Jump event. The time duration of the levels will remain the same. There will be a REDUCTION in the requirement of long series in tumbling – especially for Levels C and D. We will finally introduce a requirement for some kind of “power” elements, but I think that these should be relatively easy to deal with. For some examples of power / balance elements, go to http://www.usa-gymnastics. org/Story.aspx?tabid=529&prog=g We are still research the new proposed rules from the Euro TeamGym program so that we are going in the right direction for Levels D, E, and beyond.
As for the written TEXT of the new rules and specific deductions, the first priority has been the identification of the skills required at each level. The next step will be the revision of the text.
Please call or email with your impressions and comments.
